We will review reading strategies
So that I can decode words I’m unfamiliar with and have trouble reading.
I’ll know I have it when I can apply the reading strategies modeled in class to my IR text. One activity the learners did to to practice decoding tricky words was teaching others through the Show Me app about their top 3 strategies they use as readers. After the learners created their teaching video they got to share with other learners in their homeroom class as well as with their switch class by publishing their videos to our class account. This was a powerful learning experience for them because they loved justifying and sharing their thinking as readers. Please see a learner's example of the activity below.
