One of the best
parts of 3rd grade is developing a love for reading through conversations and
collaboration! Last week, 3rd grade students began meeting in book
clubs to discuss fiction text. They worked together to decide on the main
story elements of their text, and wrote summaries to communicate the main ideas
of their stories.
Next week,
students will work with non-fiction texts over Ancient Egypt in their book
clubs! They will continue their study of main ideas and summary next week as
well.
Featured this week
are some hard working students from Mrs. Bell's class who share with us their
love of book clubs and how they feel it benefits their learning!
Baylee says,
"I love doing book clubs because I like to grow my knowledge and spread my
knowledge with other people. I also like that I can know what other
people predict about the book and so that grows my imagination!"
Ashton writes,
"I like book club because I like working in groups and its fun.
Also, so I can share my thinking so I can check if I'm right!"
Trenton likes book
clubs "because you can share your thinking with other people and grow as a
reader!"
Peyton explains,
"I like book clubs because I like that I can talk about the book with my
group. I also like that I can challenge myself, and ask myself harder
questions!"
As you can see
from these reflections, 3rd graders are enjoying book clubs and seeing the
impact they have on their comprehension! We are so proud of all of
you!
Mrs. Bell
